Album – Good Time by Alan Jackson

2008 March 6

Alan Jackson

Alan Jackson’s new album opens with the title track and sets the mood for everything else … music to turn to as you peel out of the work parking lot on a Friday afternoon (ideally headed for a weekend of propping your feet on things, drinking beverages of choice, and apparently eating at Waffle House as well). This is a feel good album for being from the country, with songs about having a ”Good Time” being a “Country Boy” and a “Small Town Southern Man” (who “still likes bologna”). There’s nothing out of the ordinary here, if you like modern country, you’ll like this album. By the way, gotta point out the lyrics to one of the tracks (complete with gospel choir) … “if Jesus walked the world today, he’d probably be a hillbilly … .” Also, props for putting out an album with more than ten songs (17). Check for yourself.

Quarters for the songs: If You Want to Make Me Happy; Good Times.
Worth listening, if you like: George Strait; Clint Black; Alan Jackson; Josh Turner; Aaron Tippin; Blake Shelton; etc.
